Q&A with Robyn Harding
Q: What inspired you to start writing your first novel?
A: I’ve been writing stories since I was eight years old, but I grew up in a small town in northern B.C. I never thought that publishing a novel was possible. When my kids were young, I had an idea for a novel I knew I had to at least try to write. So around nap-time and in the early mornings I wrote a humorous novel called THE JOURNAL OF MORTIFYING MOMENTS. It got me my agent and was published by Random House!
Q: What’s your favorite part about connecting with readers during events like this?
A: Book people are my people! As a reader myself, I love talking about books and thrillers in particular. (I also know that book people are less likely to force me to go waterskiing or bungee jumping.)
Q: Do you have a favorite writing spot or ritual when working on a book?
A: I have a small office in our spare bedroom. I’m most creative in the mornings so I always get my coffee and start writing first thing.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to avid readers?
A: Stretch! If I read for too long I get a sore neck, sore arms, sore shoulders. Reading is such a work out!
Q: Who are the top three authors you read without question?
A: Liz Nugent, Lisa Jewel, Ashley Audrain
